What’s your current role?
I’ve been working at SAP since 1998. I’m a specialist for hospital information systems.
I work with hospital staff to help them manage the flow of patients into and out of the hospital. I create systems that keep track of patients, plan their visits, and produce the bill for their care.
How does your work help patients?
The main result is that the processes are more streamlined. Patients can get an appointment faster and more efficiently. Also, when patients arrive at the hospital, all the administrative work can be completed faster. The patients then get better service, and the hospital has more time to concentrate on the patients.
Have you ever experienced these systems first hand?
My father once was a patient in a hospital where I had implemented SAP software. He said he had no problems. Everything went well, and he came out with better healthcare. He knew I had worked on software for that hospital, so he asked the people there whether they were happy with the software or not. I’m glad that they were.
How many hospitals have you helped?
I think I’ve helped around 50 to 60 hospitals all over the world, in the course of 10 years here at SAP. I’m very proud to have made a difference in so many hospitals.
