What’s your current role?
I’m currently the senior vice president of SAP Premier Customer Network in North America, which is the collection of our top 100 largest and most strategic customers.
My job is to maintain an open dialog and reinforce our strategic partnership on an ongoing basis.
How did you get started at SAP?
I came to SAP six years ago to run sales for SAP North America Customer Education. Then I became the chief operations officer of our global SAP Education organization. It was a half-a-billion-dollar business and I had approximately 1,000 people working for me.
What’s it like managing such a large team?
I want to give all the employees that work with me the opportunity to grow personally and professionally. And to ensure that they have a good time doing it. So I always try to keep everyone challenged and motivated, and to keep them moving towards their career goals and those of SAP.
What do you look for in a new employee?
I look for someone who’s enthusiastic, open to learning and open to being challenged every day.
How do you conduct an interview?
I tend to do less of the talking because I want to hear from the candidate. So I ask questions like, why SAP? What have you done in prior roles? What attracted you to the company? Where do you want to be in five years, in three years? Are you a collaborator? I’d ask all of those questions.
Do you think the high-tech industry welcomes women?
The industry has a way to go, but I’ve had a different experience at SAP. SAP supports gender diversity, and I think it's a great place for women to work and to excel. I would encourage women to apply to SAP and really explore the fields of technology.
