TATJANA | SOFTWARE RESEARCH

How did you get started at SAP?

During my university studies, I started as an intern at SAP IT where I created software documentation. In parallel, I was looking for a business topic for my diploma thesis where I could combine theory and practical experience. This led me to my next career step: I am now writing my doctoral thesis at SAP Research in conjunction with the Technical University of Darmstadt.

What’s your thesis topic?

I’m doing my thesis in the area of innovation management and the goal of my thesis is to develop a performance management system for industrial research organizations.

What’s innovation management?

Innovation management is an area which deals with scouting for new technology trends, developing new research ideas, finding ways to transform these innovative ideas into value for our customers.

What’s it like working at SAP Research?

Working in the SAP Research organization is highly dynamic, is inspiring, and never boring. Typically, SAP Research is organized around collaborative research projects where different disciplines come together. These projects are often set up for three or four years, where real teams are working together over a longer period of time.

How will you celebrate the completion of your doctoral thesis?

I plan to take a trip around the world. I’m going to start in Germany, then Russia, go down around Asia, dive in Australia, visit friends in South Africa, dance tango in Argentina and finally visit friends in Mexico. It still sounds like a fairy tale. I can’t wait.
